Job Description

Provide technical support to the AN/SQQ-89(V)15 and/or A(V)15 Surface Sonar Systems including preventative and corrective maintenance and VME circuit board hardware. Recognize and interpret normal, casualty, and reduced capability operations for each Functional Segment. Tests and repairs or replaces electrical/electronic components and parts; localizes equipment malfunctions to system, subsystem, circuits, or parts. Perform software installations; technical support for VME/UNIX based systems; conduct analyses of associated equipment failures for warranty issues and/or failure mode trend assessment; and facilitate availability period reductions; overlaps, or similar effects caused by ship schedule changes. Work to be performed onboard Navy Ships and in shore facility labs.




Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.


1-2 years of directly related experience with VME/UNIX troubleshooting, repair, and assessment engineering experience required. Familar with Linux Filing sytem; command line operations, installing and troubleshooting server based hardware and connections; modify and review Linux log files; and file editors.


Must have an active DOD Secret Clearance or be able to obtain for access onboard Naval Bases and Ships. Must be able to lift forty pounds, climb ladders, and other shipboard activity. Must be willing to Travel.


Proficient with MS Office Products, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
