Job Description

Responsible for the design and development of voice, video, radio-frequency, and/or data communications networks.

 

Provides assistance and oversight for all information systems operations activities, including computer and telecommunications/communications operations, data entry, data control, LAN/MAN/WAN administration and operations support, operating systems programming, system security policy procedures, and/or web strategy and operations. Provides input to policy level discussions regarding standards and budget constraints. Supervises all personnel engaged in the operation and support of network facilities, including all communications equipment on various platforms in large scale or multi-shift operations. Supervises complex operations that involve two or more additional functions such as, but not limited to, network operations, systems security, systems software support, and production support activities. Monitors and responds to hardware, software, and network problems. Provides the routine testing and analysis of all elements of the network facilities (including power, software, communications machinery, lines, modems, and terminals). Utilizes software and hardware tools and identifies and diagnoses complex problems and factors affecting network performance. Troubleshoots network systems when necessary and makes improvements to the network.

Education

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

Qualifications

  1. Ten (10) years of practical analysis experience in network design, administration, operations, procedures, and troubleshooting; AND OR Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).

 

  1. Four (4) years of experience installing related equipment.

 

  1. One (1) year of experience designing, preparing,and modifying engineering documents and drawings.

 

  1. Four (4) years of experience in "Specific Projects" discipline, of which 2 must have been performed within the last 3 years. Experience may be concurrent.

 

  1. Certification in at least one the following:

- Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT).

- Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator.

- Windows 2007 +

- Exchange 2007+

 

  1. Current CCNA or CCDA certification.

 

  1. Cisco Unified Communication Manager configuration and infrastructure a plus Windows Server 2003 & 2008; Exchange and/or SQL.

 

  1. Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) 2003 or latest equivalent Microsoft certification.

 

  1. IAT Level III baseline certification in accordance with DoDD 8140.01 “Cyberspace Workforce Management” (or achieve within six months of TOA or hiring)

 

Security Clearance: Secret clearance required at time of hire based upon a SSBI completed within the past five years.
