    General Dynamics IT has an opening for a Principal Oracle ADF Software Engineer along the Gulf Coast in New Orleans; LA.

    Successful candidate must be able to obtain and retain a government background investigation. Candidates must be authorized to work in the US.

    Seeking a motivated and energetic Oracle ADF Developer to join our superb team of software professionals. We want a dedicated individual who wants to learn and expand their Java and scripting expertise.

    Principal ADF Java Developer:
    • Participates in all phases of software operating systems and software application programs engineering, including design, analysis, and modeling at an expert level; establishes state-of-the-art techniques for designing, developing, modifying and troubleshooting highly complex software operating systems and applications architectures; defines complex design specifications and parameters; identifies and directs resolution of complex hardware/software interface issues; can serve as a subject matter expert on emerging technologies; directs the development of systems specifications and technical documentation; may serve as project lead, either working independently in a technical role in field of specialization, or providing work leadership with management or supervisory responsibility for the group.
    • Experience in the writing, and testing of computer programs and database development.
    • Requires expert knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures used in all phases of full life cycle applications and systems development, engineering, programming, and analysis at a highly technical level.
    • Contributes to development and integration of applications, Java and web applications design and architecture. 
    • Writes object oriented Web application/interface code conforming to established methodology and standards.
    • Develops and conducts unit tests of either new or modified applications. 
    • Analyze, review, and alter program to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.
    • Analyzes system architecture requirements; performs requirements acquisition and definition and data analysis; may customize purchased applications; performs technical and subject matter research on emerging technologies to determine impacts on application execution; analyzes and documents client needs and requirements. 

    Principal Duties / Responsibilities:

    • Plans; develops; tests; and documents client/server applications programs.
    • Generates new code and corrects; converts; and/or modifies existing code to meet specifications. 
    •  Prepares detailed specifications from which code will be written.
    •  Confers with end-users to analyze specified methods and procedures; identify problems; and document specific requirements.
    •  Writes and updates technical documentation such as users' manuals; product specifications; and training materials.
    •  Performs a variety of testing procedures on assigned products; analyzes test results; and corrects problems.
    •  Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
    •  Reviews and evaluates software products; systems; and documentation to ensure adherence to company and customer quality standards as a member of an Agile Scrum Team.


    • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science; Engineering or a related technical discipline; or the equivalent combination of education; technical training; or work/military experience.


    • 8-10 years of related software development experience. 
    • Requires at least eight years' directly related experience in the design; writing; and testing of computer programs or database development. Also requires comprehensive knowledge of the principles; practices; and procedures used in all phases of full life cycle applications and systems development; engineering; programming; and analysis.


    Required Skills:

    • Strong experience in the development of Java web applications.
    • Experience with Oracle and ADF based applications is required. 
    • Extensive experience in the integration of software components as part of a large enterprise system. 
    • Experience with troubleshooting software configuration problems.
    • Experience performing automated software builds. 
    • Knowledge of RDBMS and data modeling concepts is required. Experience with Oracle database, knowledge of SQL, and PL/SQL is a plus
    • Experience with client side web development languages (JavaScript, HTML, DHTML, and CSS)  
    • Experience in integrating web based services and SOA.
    • Experience in code management and version control. 

    Desired Skills:

    •  Database Application development experience
    •  Applied knowledge of Agile Development Methodology, product development methodologies, database methodologies and systems integration. 
    •  Experience working in an Agile Software Development Environment.
    •  Knowledge using automated test tools.
    •  Strong interpersonal presentation and communication skills.
