Job Description

Social Media Analysts provide language-enabled social media exploitation and fuse the acquired intelligence into the Combatant Command’s overall intelligence effort. These positions require language capabilities in either Russian, Turkish, Arabic, Kurdish, or Hebrew.

  1. Provides advanced Social Network Analysis (SNA) using state-of-the-art social network techniques, methodologies, and tools in support of multi-intelligence analysis products.
  2. Employs SM intelligence methodologies and area knowledge to help characterize military forces, related support and auxiliary networks, and individuals within networks, and to identify vulnerabilities for policy options.
  3. Develops and maintains analytical procedures to meet changing requirements and ensure maximum operational success.
  4. Targets networks or individuals within networks, identifies vulnerabilities for exploitation, and draws analytic conclusions on military force disposition and activities. Combines Open Source Intelligence and Social Network Intelligence with other sources of intelligence to determine patterns of life, location, and activity assessments of military forces.
  5. Researches emerging open source and social media applications of social networking, and collaborates with industry and academia subject matter experts. Interfaces with other Government agencies to identify new and emerging SNA methodologies, techniques, and analytic tools.
  6. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced staff, and may have supervisory responsibilities.
  7. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies and subject areas.
  8. Participates in special projects as required.


Bachelor's Degree in a related technical or military discipline.


Master's Degree preferred.



  • 18 years of related experience supporting military focused all-source intelligence analysis and production programs and efforts.
  • With a Master’s Degree, 10 years of related experience supporting military focused all-source intelligence analysis and production programs and efforts.
  • Intermediate or higher language capability in Russian, Turkish, Arabic, Kurdish or Hebrew.
  • Expert knowledge of the principles, methods, processes, and applicable regulations involved in intelligence analysis.
  • Possess a Top Secret (TS) clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Source Background Investigation (SSBI).



  • Experience in SNA and current social network techniques, methodologies, and tools.
  • Recent experience (within the last five years) working at or above the Combatant Command level.
